A few small habits

A good umbrella outlasts many seasons when a few small habits are kept. None of them take more than a moment.

  1. After the rain

Before it goes back into its sleeve, let the umbrella air-dry — partly open, indoors, away from direct heat. Never store a folding umbrella wet; dampness is the quiet enemy of fabric and frame alike.

  2. The canopy

Shake water off rather than wringing the fabric — with the memory patch, one shake is also how the canopy folds itself back into order. For vinyl-coated canopies, wipe with a soft damp cloth when needed; skip detergents and avoid scraping the coating.

  3. The frame

Close the umbrella by guiding the ribs, never by forcing a jammed one. After wet days, wipe metal parts dry — a moment of attention that keeps the action smooth for years.

  4. Wooden handles

Wood asks only to stay dry. Wipe the handle after rain and keep it out of prolonged sun; its tone will deepen gently with use — that is the material keeping time with you.

  5. Storage

Every Siu comes with a matching fabric sleeve. Once the umbrella is dry, slide it in loosely and store it upright or hanging — never compressed at the bottom of a bag for weeks.
